Ground was broken on Saturday for 8 windmills on Lake Erie at the site of the old Bethlehem Steel plant on the Buffalo Lackawanna border. Each of the windmills will be taller than city hall and together they will provide enough electricity to supply between 2,500-3,000 homes. They claim they will actually be ready by the end of the year!

the article said they will power about 6K homes total.

it's great they're reusing derelict land, but they might prevent the land from being reused for more lucrative ventures.
