Gubanatorial Canidate Tom Suozzi gives a speech in Lafayatte Square.
Conventioners enjoying lunch in Fountain Plaza.
Can you say media freenzy? The NY State Democratic Convention has arrived in town. Bill and Hillary will be here tommorrow so I imagine there will be even more media then.
The Blue Crab, our last meal in Norfolk on the bayfront.
Here's me and the top of the old lighthouse.
Next stop Cape Henry, Virginia on Fort Story Military Base. The new lighthouse with the old one in the foreground.
Here's a really cool restaurant on the ocean called 31 ocean!
I'm actually in this pic in the red shirt. I'm dwarfed by this sculpture.
The boardwalk at VA Beach.
I couldn't resist!
The U.S. Lifesaving Musuem on the boardwalk in VA Beach.
No swearing in Virginia Beach. You will get a ticket!
And on to Virginia Beach where Bull Dike police officers ride Italian style motorcycles.
The view from our hotel room in downtown Norfolk.
The maze at the Governor's Palace.
Jay's mom and step dad all locked up.
The House of Burgesses in the Capital where the Declaration of Independence was framed by the likes of Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson, among others.
This building served as Virginia's Capital Building for a number of years.
Now to Colonial Williamsburg where Jay has taken up arms to defend gay rights! LOL
Next stop, Jamestowne. The landing place for the first European settlers who established the first permenant colony here.
I recently visited numerous places in Virginia with Jay. Our first stop was Yorktown National Battlefield. We lucked out and caught a re-enactment going on.

Sorry for the lighting on this. I received my new book in the mail today, it's called "Buffalo is a cool place to live", by Alex Bitterman. I can't wait to check it out.
I picked up my City of Buffalo flag today. Buffalo Rising's website promoted a civic pride event that included purchasing the city flags and donating them to area businesses or not for profits to display. I'm still not sure to whom I will donate mine.

The end results of one of the games! My friend Ken, who WAS on my team (Underground) injured himself in game 2 while he was filling in for another team. He broke his leg in two places sliding into home. Here's Ken at home recovering. He'll be occupying this spot on the couch for the next 6-8 weeks after his surgery. Also, a female player from Buddies was hit in the face with a line drive. She lost 3 teeth, broke her jaw, and her orbital bone in her face. Ooch! Bad week for the league!
The teams packs it up for the day. We won one game and lost one. Boy was it windy and cold out there today.
Today was the first game of the season for the gay softball league. Here's my friend Liz getting ready for the big game!
In front of Club Marcella's looking south down Main Street.
More excitement. In front of Shea's looking north on Main Street.
More excitement of being downtown, but not quite so cool! After seeing 5-6 police cars zoom down Main Street I decided to put on my scanner. No sooner than I turned it on I hear, "All available cars (citywide) report to 622 Main Street. That's the building where Marcella's and the Tralf are located.

So what do I do but head down to investigate. When I get there I see atleast 50 police cars and hundreds of people pouring out of the Tralf where someone apparently was shot. I turned around and took the quick ride home to get my camera. On my way back I get a phone call from Jay who went down with me but stayed there saying that some guy just shot another guy in the head. As I rolled up on my bike the cops were arresting the suspect and the paramedics were treating the victim.

As people tried to get out of there area more cops keep coming in. There were Buffalo Police from every district, Transit Police, and Homeland Security, and who knows who else. We biked over to Pearl street to see vehicles bumper to bumper trying to leave while people took over the streets. Eventually another person was shot in the head on Pearl in front of Shea's. I'll be honest I wasn't scared in the least by all this however, I've really had it with these hip hop parties and events at the Groove ending up in tragedy! These incidents are embarassing for the city as well as the african-american community. GROW UP ALREADY!

The excitement of being downtown! The red carpet was rolled out for the opening of "Five Guys Named Moe" at Studio Arena Theater across from my apartment Saturday night. These patrons are walking over from dinner and a reception at the Towne Ballroom just down Main Street.
The office. This is where all the magazine business gets done. There's an amazing view of downtown from there. I can see the skyline right up Main Street and down Tupper. See previous posts for a picture.
The bedroom. That's the infamous "Lube Frog" on top of the bed. Oh, and Jeff, Mocha is there too. Your so sweet.
Getting closer to the room where "it" all happens!
The kitchen island and the hall to my bedroom.
The living room. If I had a bigger apartment this would be called the Great Room!
In case your wondering why I'm posting pictures of my apartment, they're for my girl Jayne from Delphi. She wanted to see how my place was decorated. I must say, it's ghetto fabulous! This is the hallway on the way in.

For you out of towners, have I mentioned that Buddies has a new location at Franklin & Huron.
Although Betty's isn't really new it is certainly a unique gem! This restaurant owned by two lesbians at the corner of Virginia & Cottage. It's a restaurant that I'm sure would meet with Jeff Sturman's approval. It has a great vegetarian menu!
