Built in 1713, the Old State House is Boston's oldest surviving public building. In this building in 1776 The Declaration of Independence was first read to Bostonians. At the rear of this building on March 5, 1770 British troops fired upon unruly colonials gathering here, killing five. The incident was deemed, "The Boston Massacre".
