Today myself, my brother and sister-in-law drove out to the Lake Ontario town of Huron an hour past Rochester to hike Chimney Bluffs. This little know state park is a photographers paradise!
The bluffs were formed by Ice Age glaciers. The glaciers deposited an elongated hill of compact gravel, called a drumlin.
When the glaciers melted away, Lake Ontario's waters rose and reached the level of the drumlin. Over the years lake water battered and eroded it away causing the hill to slide into the lake. The erosion led to the bizarre formations that are constantly changing even today.
